Permissions

Permissions set which kinds of change Bidhelm makes on its own and which wait for your yes. Each kind is set to Acts on its own or Asks first in Settings โ€บ Permissions.

How it works

Bidhelm runs your accounts either way. Permissions don't switch it off. They decide what happens to a change once Bidhelm has decided to make it:

  • Acts on its own: the change goes live and is written to History with its reason.
  • Asks first: the change waits in Needs you until someone approves it.

A rule in Memory can be stricter than a setting, for example one that holds any post mentioning a price. When a rule and a setting disagree, the stricter one wins.

Change a permission

  1. Select your workspace name at the top of the sidebar, then Settings.
  2. Select Permissions.
  3. On each row, select Acts on its own or Asks first. It saves right away.

The switch at the top of the Ads card sets every ads row at once, and the default for any new kind of change. When the rows differ, it reads Custom.

Only owners and admins can change Permissions. Everyone else in the workspace can see them. See Members and roles.

Ads

RowWhat it covers
Start new campaignsNew campaigns, created paused until they're ready. One you start from a plan or in chat never waits.
Pause wasteful keywordsKeywords that keep spending with nothing to show for it.
Block irrelevant searchesSearches that won't turn into customers. See Blocked searches.
Promote search terms that convertTurns a search that already converts into its own exact keyword.
Change bidsKeyword bids and Smart Bidding targets. Switching bidding strategy always asks first.
Change budgetsScales proven winners up and trims losers.
Write new ad copyNew headlines and descriptions to test against your ads. See Ad drafts.

When a change asks first, Bidhelm groups what's waiting into one item in Needs you. After you approve one, owners and admins may see Turn on auto on it in History, which switches that row to Acts on its own so it stops asking.

Social

The Social card shows once a social account is connected.

RowWhat it covers
Publish postsPosts written on your posting plan. When it asks first, each one waits for your OK, and one you haven't answered moves to the next open slot.
Reply to comments and mentionsPublic replies to people who comment on your posts, mention you or quote you. It shows once replies are available on your profile.

Private messages follow each social account's own setting in Settings โ€บ Connections. If one of your instructions says every post or reply waits for you, the row stays on ask and says so, naming your rule. You can still change the setting, but it takes effect only once the rule is paused or edited. See Ask first for posts.

Money limits

Some limits hold whatever Permissions say:

  • Your monthly budget. The Ads plan card on the Ads page holds your monthly budget. Bidhelm keeps ad spend inside it and never raises it on its own: spending more takes your yes in Needs you. You can change the budget yourself with Edit on the card. Changes apply from tomorrow.
  • Campaigns you paused stay paused. Campaigns you paused, or that were already paused when Bidhelm started, are turned back on only after you say yes to the ones it names.
  • Your own budget rules. An instruction like "never scale Orbit Brand by more than 10% at a time" or "don't cut this campaign's budget" becomes a rule Bidhelm's budget changes are held to. Memory marks it as enforced. See Give Bidhelm an instruction.

Google can spend up to twice a campaign's daily budget on a single day. The monthly total is what stays fixed.

Plans

Permissions are part of every plan, and the rows are the same on Starter and Growth. The page appears once your workspace has a plan. See Pricing.

Common questions

The ads rows from Start new campaigns to Change budgets, and both social rows, start on Acts on its own. Write new ad copy starts on Asks first for Bidhelm's first drafts, then switches to Acts on its own once you approve one, or after 48 hours with no answer.
