Connect a social account

Before you start

• You need to be able to sign in to the X profile you want to connect.
• Each profile takes a slot on your plan. Starter includes 1 social account and Growth includes 3. Each extra one is $49/mo. Social accounts are counted apart from Google Ads accounts. See pricing.
• One X profile can be connected to one Bidhelm workspace at a time. If it's already connected in another workspace, remove it there first.

Connect your X profile

1. Open the dashboard and go to Settings › Connections.
2. In the Social group, select Connect profile. If nothing is connected yet, the button is Connect X.
3. X opens its sign-in and permission screen. Sign in to the profile and allow access.
4. You land back on Connections, which says "X connected. Initial sync runs shortly."

You can also start from Social in the sidebar. Before a profile is connected, that page shows Connect an account, which takes you to Connections.

Connecting is also your go-ahead. It lets Bidhelm post, reply and block clear spam on the profile, on the plan, and answer direct messages if you turn them on. To stop, disconnect it.

What Bidhelm does once it's connected

• Keeps the next seven days filled with posts, on a posting plan you can change at any time. See The posting plan and days off.
• Writes posts for the plan. They go out on their own or wait for your OK, as Publish posts in Settings › Permissions says. See Ask first for posts.
• Sets up four rules in Memory that hold a post for you when it names a price or offer, a release date, a big claim, or a customer. See Blocked posts.
• Watches the conversations: replies, mentions and quotes land in Social › Conversations. See Conversations.

X asks profiles that post on their own to carry its automated label, and only you can add it. Until you confirm it, the Social page shows a "Mark @handle as automated" notice. In X, the setting is under Settings › Your account › Account information › Automation. Once it's on, select I've done this on the notice.

When you have more profiles than your plan

If you hold more profiles than your plan includes, for example after a downgrade, the extra profiles stay connected and you can still read them. Bidhelm doesn't run them, and they show Not running: over your plan's profiles. The profiles that keep running are the ones you connected first.

To run an extra profile again, add a profile slot. Owners and admins see an Add a profile, $49/mo button on the profile's row. When every slot is in use, the Connect profile button is replaced by an offer to add one.

Manage or remove a profile

Each profile's row on Settings › Connections has a menu:

• Make primary, when you have more than one profile.
• Sync now, to pull in the latest from X.
• Conversations, DMs and moderation…, the direct message and blocking switches for that profile. See Conversations.
• Remove profile.

Removing a profile cancels its scheduled posts and returns its slot to your plan. Posts that already went out stay on X. Only owners and admins can remove a profile.

If X stops accepting the connection, the row shows Reconnect needed. Select Reconnect and sign in to X again.
