Before you start
- Sign in with the Google login you run your ads from. A login with no Google Ads accounts on it can't be connected.
- If you work through a manager account, its client accounts are listed for you to pick from.
- Not sure which login can reach the account? How to give access to your Google Ads account covers users, manager accounts and connected apps.
- Your plan sets how many Google Ads accounts you can connect: 1 on Starter, 3 on Growth. You can add more slots. See pricing.
Connect during setup
- On the Connect your accounts screen, find Google Ads under Ads and select Connect.
- Google's sign-in opens. Pick your login and allow access.
- Back in Bidhelm, the row shows Connected.
- If the login holds two or more Google Ads accounts, pick one from the Account menu under the row. With only one, Bidhelm picks it for you.
- Select Continue.
Connect after setup
- Open Settings › Connections.
- In the Ads group, select Connect account. If nothing is connected yet, select Connect Google Ads.
- Sign in with Google and allow access.
Each account shows its name, its customer ID (like 482-193-0571), the Google login it came from and a Working label. With more than one account, one is marked Primary. To change that, open the account's menu and select Make primary.
If every slot on your plan is in use, Connections says so and offers Add a slot. An extra Google Ads account is $60 a month.
What Bidhelm does once connected
Bidhelm starts reading your account straight away: campaigns, keywords, search terms and results. It keeps syncing about every 30 minutes.
Once your plan is in place, Bidhelm runs the account. It can start new campaigns, pause wasteful keywords, block irrelevant searches, add keywords from searches that convert, change bids and budgets, and write new ad copy to test. It works inside your budget, and every change it makes is in History with the reason.
You decide which of these act on their own and which wait for your yes in Settings › Permissions. See Permissions.
On the Growth plan you can also link Merchant Center under your primary account. It backs Performance Max campaigns in that account.
Remove an account
- Open Settings › Connections.
- Open the account's menu and select Remove account.
- Confirm with Remove account.
The account stops being monitored and its slot returns to your plan. Its campaigns keep running in Google Ads, and your other accounts aren't touched.
You can't remove your only Google Ads account here: Remove account stays greyed out, because Bidhelm would have nothing to work on. To stop Bidhelm entirely, see Cancel or delete your account.
Troubleshooting
"Doesn't have any Google Ads accounts on it." The login you used has no Google Ads accounts. Select Try another login and sign in with the one you run your ads from.
"This workspace is linked to" another login. A workspace stays with the Google login it was connected with. Sign in with that login. During setup you can instead select Disconnect on the Google Ads row and connect with another login.
"Reconnect needed." Google stopped accepting the login, so no changes are being made to your ads. Select Reconnect and sign in again with the same login. Bidhelm picks up where it left off.
"No access." Google is refusing the account itself. Signing in again won't fix it: check in Google Ads that the account is still open and paid.
"That didn't finish." The Google sign-in was closed before it completed. Select Try again when you're ready.
