Turn it on
- Go to Settings โบ Permissions.
- In the Social group, find Publish posts.
- Select Asks first. It saves straight away.
To let posts go out on their own again, select Acts on its own. Only owners and admins can change this. The Social group shows once a social account is connected.
Once replies are available on your profile, a second row, Reply to comments and mentions, works the same way for Bidhelm's public replies. See Conversations.
If one of your rules in Memory says every post waits for your yes, Publish posts stays on Asks first whatever the setting says. The row then reads "Ask first, set by your rule" and quotes the rule. Pause or edit the rule in Memory to change it.
Where posts wait
Posts waiting on you are at the top of Social โบ Posts, under Needs you. The Social item in the sidebar shows how many things need you.
Each post is a card with when it goes out, the profile, the text and a Held chip. The top line says "Waiting for your yes." Under it, a line tells you the deadline, for example "If you don't answer by Tue 7:00 AM, it moves to the next open slot and waits for you." The deadline is 7:00 in the morning on the post's own day, in the plan's time zone.
Answer a post
| Button | What happens |
|---|---|
| Confirm | It goes out as written, at its slot. |
| Other date | Pick a day, then select Move it. The post moves to that day. |
| Hold | It waits another week, and you can still send it before then. |
| Edit | Opens the post. Select Edit under the text, change the text or images, then select Save. |
| Reject | Cancels the post. Nothing goes out. |
| Discuss | Opens a chat with Bidhelm about the post. |
After Confirm or Other date, a message confirms what happens, with Undo if you change your mind.
To answer everything at once, select Approve all pending at the top of Needs you, then Approve all. Each post goes out at the time and with the text shown. Bidhelm's checks still run on each one, and any post they refuse stays behind as blocked. See Blocked posts.
Change a post after you approve it
Approved posts move down to the upcoming list, grouped by day. Open a post's row to:
- Edit it. Saving a change to a scheduled post sends it back for review, and it won't go out until someone approves it again.
- Reschedule it to a new date and time.
- Skip it. Nothing goes out for that slot.
- Cancel post.
What Bidhelm does on its own
- It keeps writing to the plan. Posts waiting for your yes count toward the week, so Bidhelm doesn't pile up extra drafts while you decide.
- It never sends a post you haven't approved. At the deadline, an unanswered post moves to the next open slot and asks again. Bidhelm can give a waiting post more time, but only you can send it.
- It doesn't ask twice. A post you approved isn't held again by this setting.
- Your rules still apply. A post that matches a rule in Memory can still be held or blocked after you approve it. See Blocked posts.
Common questions
No. The plan still decides how often and when posts go out. Asks first only adds your yes before each one. See The posting plan and days off.
Yes, with rules in Memory. Every workspace starts with rules that hold a post naming a price or offer, a release date, a big claim or a customer. To add your own, tell Bidhelm in chat, for example "Ask me before any post mentions the Orbit roadmap." It keeps the rule in Memory. See Memory.
