Why a post gets blocked
Before a post goes out, Bidhelm checks it against your rules in Memory and a set of standard checks. The rules that block are your Never rules: claims you never want made, topics to stay away from, and names you never want mentioned, such as competitors. In Memory they're marked Never, and you write them as lines starting never:.
A post can also be blocked by a standard check, for example:
- It's over X's length limit, or carries more images than allowed.
- The profile needs to be reconnected.
- The profile is past the number your plan includes.
- The profile has reached its posting limit for now.
How a blocked post names the rule
Find the post in Social › Posts, in the upcoming list. Its row says what was found, in one of these forms:
- Says "the fastest sprint planner", which breaks your rule "No speed claims".
- Mentions "pricing", which your rules rule out.
- Names a competitor, followed by the name, which is on your banned list.
Open the post with Edit to see the full check. The Guardrail result section gives the rule's name, such as Banned claims and topics, with the same sentence under it.
If every post in the queue is blocked, a notice at the top says "Every post in this queue is blocked".
Fix a blocked post
- Open the post with Edit.
- Select Edit under the text and change the words that broke the rule.
- Select Save.
The post goes back for review and is checked again when it's approved. If you'd rather drop it, select Cancel post.
If the rule itself is wrong, change it instead. Open Memory, then pause, edit or remove the rule.
When Bidhelm blocked a post because it read a company name as breaking your rule about naming competitors, the post's Guardrail result, which you see when you open it with Edit, offers an Allow button with that name, for example Allow "Acme". Selecting it lets every post in the workspace use that name and sends this post back for review. A name your rule spells out word for word can't be allowed this way: edit the rule instead.
For a standard check, the sentence names the problem. To reconnect the profile, go to Settings › Connections. To add a profile slot, go to Settings › Plan & billing. A profile that has reached its posting limit can post again later.
Held, not blocked
Some rules hold a post for your answer instead of blocking it. Every workspace starts with four, marked Hold in Memory: posts that name a price or offer, a release date, a big claim, or one of your customers.
A held post waits under Needs you with a Held chip and a line such as "Mentions a price · your rule", or the rule's name. Your answers:
| Button | What happens |
|---|---|
| Confirm | It goes out as written, at its slot. The button may name the date or price, for example Confirm Thursday. |
| Other date | It moves to the day you pick. |
| Hold | It waits another week, and you can still send it before then. |
| Post without | It goes out without the part that matched, for example Post without the date. |
The card says what happens if you don't answer by its deadline, usually two hours before the slot. A post held only for a date goes out without the date. One held for a price, a claim or a customer's name is skipped, because leaving those out changes what it says. With Publish posts set to Asks first, it moves to the next open slot and waits for you instead. See Ask first for posts.
