What's on the tab
- Needs you: suggestions to like, hide or block, each with Not now, then the conversations that wait on a person. Each card says why it's waiting, shows the thread, and usually has a suggested reply.
- Handled: everything already decided, grouped by day. Filter it by All, Replied, Liked, Hidden, Skipped or Blocked. Until replies are available on your profile, this list is called Conversations and has no filters.
- The right-hand column: the last 7 days by outcome, how long replies took on average, Blocked accounts, and Reply settings.
A direct message has no section of its own. It shows wherever its decision puts it, marked as a direct message.
Reply to a conversation
- Under Needs you, open a card. Bidhelm's suggested reply is under Suggested reply.
- Send it as written, or select Edit and change it.
- Select the send button. Or select Skip to leave it unanswered, or Discuss to talk it through with Bidhelm first.
Nothing is sent until you press a button. Only owners and admins can reply from the profile.
A handled conversation can still change. Reply anyway opens a reply on one left unanswered, Write a reply moves a skipped one back to Needs you, and Delete reply, Unlike and Unhide take back what was done. Each one that reaches X asks you to confirm first.
Like, hide, block, mute and opt out
- Like and hide are always suggestions. Bidhelm never likes or hides on its own. Tap Like or Hide in the suggestions, or Not now. A hidden reply is hidden under your post, never deleted.
- Block happens on its own only for clear spam accounts. Every other block is your call.
- Mute, opt out and block for one person are in the â‹Ż menu at the end of a thread: Mute, Don't reply to them again and Block. Each asks you to confirm and says what it does. Blocking stops them following the profile or seeing its posts on X. Muting only stops their posts showing in the profile's timeline, and they aren't told. Both can be undone from the same menu.
- Don't reply to them again marks the person as opted out. Nothing more is sent to them, no replies and no direct messages, and their conversations stay to read. Bidhelm also marks someone opted out when they reply or send a direct message with words like "stop", "unsubscribe" or "opt out". Select Reply to them again to undo it.
If the profile was connected before X granted these permissions, a notice asks you to reconnect it to turn on likes, hides and blocks. Posting isn't affected.
What Bidhelm does on its own
Bidhelm replies in public only to people who mention the profile, quote it or reply under one of its posts, and only once per message. A conversation that's sensitive, or that matches a hold rule in Memory, waits for a person.
Open Reply settings to choose what Bidhelm handles. Every switch starts on:

To see every reply before it goes out, set Reply to comments and mentions to Asks first in Settings › Permissions. Each reply then waits under Needs you. The row shows once replies are available on your profile. See Permissions.
Bidhelm never follows or reposts for you.
Direct messages are off until you turn them on
Direct messages are off for every profile until you turn them on.
- Go to Settings › Connections.
- Open the profile's menu and select Conversations, DMs and moderation….
- Turn on Direct messages. X asks for permission on its own screen, so you're sent there to allow it.
Once it's on, messages land in Conversations. Bidhelm sends a direct message only to someone who wrote first, and answers on its own only when Answer DMs is on. Every direct message ends with your privacy policy link, which you set on Settings › General, and a way to opt out.
The same panel has Blocking and muting, which is on when you connect. Turn it off and nothing is blocked or muted from Bidhelm. Only owners and admins can change either switch.
